O U2 é uma banda formada em Dublin (Irlanda) em 1976 e é composto por Paul Hewson, mais conhecido com Bono, nos vocais, Edge na Guitarra e backing vocal, Adam Clayton no baixo e Larry Mullen na Bateria.

O U2 formou-se a partir de um anúncio de Larry procurando outros músicos. A banda (antes chamada de Feedback) começou a fazer shows pela irlanda e lançaram seu primeiro album, Boy, em 1980. Alcançaram o sucesso Internacional com suas letras fortes, o tom de voz expressivo de bono e os riffs de Edge. Lançaram seu segundo disco, The Joshua Tree (1987)

 O grupo lançou 12 álbuns de estúdio e está na lista de artistas com maior arrecadação, tendo vendido mais de 150 milhões de discos em todo mundo. Ganharam 22 Grammy Awards, mais do que qualquer outra banda. A Rolling Stone classificou o U2 na posição 22° de sua lista dos "100 Maiores Artistas de Todos os Tempos". Por toda sua carreira, como banda e como indivíduos, fizeram campanhas pelos direitos humanos e causas filantrópicas.
